Two-tailed scorpion (TIFF)

Two-tailed scorpion (TIFF)

A rare two-tailed scorpion of an unidentified species from Sumatra, Indonesia. There are records of two-tail scorpions occuring in several species. However, this particular specimen is exceptionally rare (if not unique) because it also exhibits gynandromorphism, with a mix of male and female characteristics, including the mosaic colouration/texture on the surface of the thorax, differently shaped claws, and the right chelicerum (mouthpart used to crush prey) being larger than the left one. (A closer examination of this individual will probably reveal other features). Length of specimen (head to right tail) = 45mm.
