Rescued from a builders skip a few years ago and now adorning a wall in the School of Biosciences, University of Birmingham , these are photos of staff and students from the former Department of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy (and later Physiology) 1930-1988. There are some famous people here, representing the heyday of animal biology at this fine institution. I have included two, FREE TO DOWNLOAD, versions for each photo, with one labelled for identification purposes - I am hoping that visitors will be able to use the latter to identify individuals, particularly those who worked/studied Zoology prior to 1979. Please email me any information that you may have and I will draw up lists and post them here. (The list for 1987-88 is almost complete).

Latest news: Many thanks to Joseph Hodgkiss (studied Biological Sciences 1969-1972 at the university) and Bob Hall (a technician who's been working at the university since time began) for identifying some of the people in these photographs.

5/2/2017. Fiona Wright (then Nixon) has identified 13 people from 1965-66 photo - many thanks Fiona!

Can I kindly ask visitors downloading these (free) photos to consider making a small donation to the University of Birmingham here? Thank you.
